Online Courses
Frequently Asked Questions
- What if I have trouble accessing my online course?
- First, check the start date of the online course. Most online courses begin on the day the semester officially begins. Check the official start date of the semester on the college's academic calendar. There are five different sessions in the Summer 2010 semester:
- OK, the semester's officially started, but I still cannot log in.
- Be sure you are typing your login information (UserID and Password or Course codes) correctly. If you still need help, call the Atlantic Cape Online Course Helpline (1-800-617-2191) or send your question to Online Help.
- I am typing my UserId and Password, but keep receiving an error that I have entered an incorrect username or password.
- Your userid for Blackboard is your 8 digit student identification number (ie. 12345678). Please type your student identification number using no dashes or spaces. If you are unsure of your student identification number you can obtain this either through Web4Students or by contacting Enrollment Services. Your password is your date of birth with no hyphens or slashes (ie. 102070).
- I am able to login to Blackboard, but there are no courses listed on my My Blackboard page.
- Access to your courses will not begin until the first day of the semester. Although you will be able to access Blackboard several days prior to the start of the semester, your courses will not appear on your my My Blackboard page until the first day of class. If you still do not have any courses listed on your My Blackboard page as of that date, please contact Online Help.
- My online math course is not listed on my My Blackboard page.
- If you are taking an online math course and do not see your math course listed on your My Blackboard page, it is because your math course uses MyMathLab or WebAssign. Please go to http://www.atlantic.edu/online/login.html for more information on how to access your online math course.
- How do I purchase my textbooks?
- The required textbooks and materials must be purchased in person or online at the secure Atlantic Cape Bookstore Web site.
- I have software on my computer that stops those annoying Internet pop-up ads. Is this a problem?
- YES. You will need to disable your pop-up blocker in your Web browser in order to successfully navigate Blackboard. Refer to the documentation that came with your pop-up blocker software to temporarily disable it when you want to work on your course.
- Why is there a red "X" when I am trying to upload files from My Computer?
- You need to update your Java in your Web browser. You can go to http://java.com to update yourJava for free. Click "Do I have Java?" and you will receive a message telling you whether or not you have the recommended version of Java installed. If you are prompted that you do not have the correct version of Java, you can download the correct version by clicking the "Download Java Now" blue button.
