| Duties: | Reports to the Dean of Instruction; supervises and evaluates all full- and part-time individual faculty members in instructional endeavors; assigns full- and part-time faculty schedules; provides leadership and coordination of departmental learning outcomes assessment strategies; develops course offerings for fall, spring and summer sessions; reviews textbooks and consolidates departmental text orders and advises on library acquisitions; screens applications for faculty positions and assists in interviewing and selecting applicants; orients new faculty members and plans workshops and conferences for full- and part-time staff; evaluates faculty for retention, promotion and tenure; maintains and promulgates college practices and standards; promotes and implements departmental student success initiatives; encourages and facilitates teamwork within the department; prepares departmental budgets and coordinates expenditures of allocated funds; participates in monthly Academic Affairs Council meetings and weekly Academic Roundtable meetings; fosters, encourages, initiates and develops, in cooperation with the faculty, improvement in teaching; curricular development; instructional innovation; and course revision; participates in college recruitment day activities. | |
| Minimum Requirements: | Must be a full-time faculty member of the English Department. Demonstrated interest in the use of technology to enhance instruction. Availability to complete summer duties. | |
