CONTEST IS OPEN TO ANYONE WHO IS CURRENTLY IN HIGH SCHOOL OR HAS GRADUATED WITH A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED EQUIVALENT. IN ORDER TO RECEIVE THE SCHOLARSHIP, THE WINNERS MUST ATTEND THE ACADEMY OF CULINARY ARTS AT ATLANTIC CAPE COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO MAJOR IN CULINARY OR BAKING/PASTRY. CURRENT OR PRIOR-ENROLLED STUDENTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE.

ENTRANTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST OBTAIN CONSENT FROM HIS/HER PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN PRIOR TO ENTERING.

CONTESTANT(S) WILL BE REQUIRED TO RESPOND TO NOTIFICATION AND OTHER COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE COLLEGE (DEFINED BELOW) WITHIN 48 HOURS OR CONTESTANT MAY BE DISQUALIFIED AND/OR PRIZE MAY BE FORFEITED IN SOLE DISCRETION OF THE ATLANTIC CAPE COMMUNITY COLLEGE (REFERRED TO AS "THE COLLEGE").

PRIZES:

-          1 Grand Prize Winner will win an $18,000 scholarship to the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College for Baking/Pastry certification*,

-          1 Grand Prize Winner will win an $18,000 scholarship to the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College for Culinary certification*.

EIGHT RUNNER-UP PRIZES:

-          8 Chef knife kits from the Follett Bookstore (retail value $250.00 each)*

*Prize(s) contingent upon winner(s) being admitted to the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College, with a major in Baking/Pastry certification or Culinary certification. Knife kits can only be received at the Mays Landing campus of Atlantic Cape Community College at Follett Bookstore with a letter from Atlantic Cape Financial Aid.

ELIGIBILITY:

- All entrants must be currently attending an accredited high school or GED program in the U.S., or have graduated and can provide proof in the form of a high school diploma or GED certificate.

- Must be planning or willing to attend the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College within 2 years of winning and major (or have a declared concentration) in either the Baking/Pastry or Culinary program (Scholarship prizes contingent upon proof of admission & enrollment)

- Must be a legal U.S.. resident with a primary residence in one of the fifty (50) United States or Washington, D.C.

- Must not be, or be the child, sibling, spouse or live in the same household of, an employee, officer or director or Trustee member of Atlantic Cape Community College or any of the foregoing entities’ respective affiliated companies or advertising and/or promotional agencies.

- Must be available to travel to Atlantic City (with parent, legal guardian or authorized adult chaperone, if under the age of 18) and available on Thursday, August 2 from 7 a.m.- 9 p.m. if selected as a Finalist.

- Must not have a record or prior history of criminal arrest or conviction (misdemeanor traffic violations excluded)

HOW TO ENTER:

For an opportunity to win one of the above prize packages (the “Prize(s)”), go to Atlantic Cape Community College's Facebook page or go to atlantic.edu and click on the “COOK YOUR WAY TO $18K” button where you will find the Official Rules.

Then complete the entry form by uploading all of the required entry submission information set forth below, confirm that you agree to these Official Rules (which can also be found under Terms of Use button on the entry page), and click on the “Submit/Enter” button before 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Limit two entries per person.

3- Recipe – In the required fields, type the recipe of your dish (including servings, ingredients and directions sections)

----> Must be the sole, exclusive and original work of the entrant

----> Must not be or contain material that is unlawful, defamatory, libelous, slanderous deceptive, fraudulent, tortious, profane, explicit or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate

----> Must not contain any material that violates or infringes the rights of others (living or deceased) including, but not limited to, privacy, publicity, copyright, trademark, trade secret, patent or other intellectual property or other proprietary, legal or moral rights

----> Avoid third party logos, brand names or trademarks

4- Photo – Upload a photo of a finished original recipe dish. Photo requirements and guidelines:

----> Must not exceed Shortstack upload guidelines and meet any 3rd party social media posting guidelines

----> Must be the sole, exclusive and original work of the entrant

----> Must be a photo of the dish only, no third party persons or companies allowed in the photo

----> Must not contain any material that violates or infringes the rights of others (living or deceased) including, but not limited to, privacy, publicity, copyright, trademark, trade secret, patent or other intellectual property or other proprietary, legal or moral rights

----> Must not be or contain material that is unlawful, defamatory, libelous, slanderous deceptive, fraudulent, tortious, profane, explicit or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate

----> Avoid third-party artwork, images, quotes, parodies or other materials not created and/or owned by entrant

----> Avoid third party logos, brand names or trademarks

If a submission (both recipe and photo) does not comply with any of these guidelines or any other requirements of these Rules, The college reserves the right to disqualify the entrant. Photos and recipes submitted to the Contest will be subject to broadcast and publication on and in connection with the Academy of Culinary Arts and Atlantic Cape Community College and/or its affiliated digital and other media platforms, including but not limited to, atlantic.edu, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.

There are two (2) contest entries maximum per person for the entire contest, which includes both Baking/Pastry and Culinary.

HOW TO WIN: The Winner will be selected through a series of judging rounds as set forth below:

Top 20 entrants (10 for Baking/Pastry contest and 10 for Culinary contest) will be based on the total number of crowd votes (through contest management tally on Shortstack) and will move on to the second round provided the submission meets the requirements.

Then the 20 entries will be reviewed by one or more representative(s) of Atlantic Cape Community College and judged on the following criteria:

- Appeal of recipe dish presented (50%)

- Originality of recipe dish presented (50%)

The ten (10) contestants (5 for Baking/Pastry and 5 for Culinary) with the highest scores as determined by the Judges, in their sole discretion, will move on to next round of judging. (In the event of a tie, the Judges will select a judge who has not previously reviewed either of the tying entries (the “Tie-breaker Judge”). The Tie-breaker Judge will judge the tying entries based on the above criteria and the contestant awarded the highest score will prevail.)

The ten (10) finalists will travel to Atlantic City for during the approximate period July 31, 2018 – August 3, 2018 to compete in the Challenges that will take place at the Charles D. Worthington Campus of Atlantic Cape Community College. Finalists under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, or such parent or legal guardian’s designated chaperone over the age of 18. Travel arrangements and accommodations will be the responsibility of the finalist. In the event of inclement weather, travel days will be rescheduled, subject to weather and travel arrangements, for the following week. The Challenges will be designed to test the finalist’s knowledge of baking/pastry and/or Culinary by have each finalist cook the dish they submitted for a panel of judges to taste. The Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College will supply all ingredients and tools to create the dish. The rules, and where applicable, the judging criteria and judges for each challenge will be communicated to the Finalists prior to the start of the Challenges. The winner of the Baking/Pastry challenge and the Culinary challenge will be the grand prize winners, respectively. The Challenges may be taped before a live audience for possible future broadcast on and/or in connection promotion of the Academy and/or college. Prior to participating in the Challenges, Finalists (and Finalist’s parent or legal guardian if Finalist is under the age of 18) must sign and execute appearance and other contest related releases, as more fully described below under the Contest Paperwork section. The college reserves the right not to broadcast any or all of the Challenges.

CONTESTANT & WINNER NOTIFICATION: Contestants will be contacted and/or notified via contact information provided with his/her entry. Such contact/notification may be by phone, email, video chat or in person and subject to recording for possible broadcast or publication on or in connection with the Academy of Culinary Arts or Atlantic Cape Community College. By entering the Contest, each contestant irrevocably grants permission to the Academy of Culinary Arts and/or Atlantic Cape Community College to record any and all such communications between contestant and the college and/or its representatives for possible broadcast and/or publication on and/or in connection with the Academy of Culinary Arts or Atlantic Cape Community College. Unless indicated otherwise, contestants will be required to respond to notification and other communications from the college within 48 hours or contestant may be disqualified and/or prize may be forfeited, in sole discretion of the college. As set forth above, for contestants under the age of 18, failure to obtain written parental (or legal guardian) consents may lead to disqualification, in the sole discretion of the college. In the event that a contestant is disqualified for any reason permitted under these Rules, the college shall have the right, but not the obligation, to replace the contestant with the next highest scoring contestant and if applicable, provide such replacement contestant additional time to fulfill relevant contest requirements. Winner will be announced before a live audience during the taping on August 2, 2018 (subject to weather delays).

CONFIDENTIALITY: Contestants agree not to provide any interviews to, or appear on or in connection with, any media outlet (including television, radio, print, online or social media) (together, the “Media Outlets”) regarding the Contest and/or Series without the prior written consent of the college during the Contest and until after September 18, 2018. Contestants further agree to keep confidential and not disclose, discuss, release, publish or post any information regarding the Contest and/or the Series (including but not limited to, any Contest results, the nature of Contest activities, the identities of any contestants/Finalists/Winner, or any personal experience with the Series) to any Media Outlet (including but not limited to any digital or social media platform, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) until after September 18, 2018.

PRIZE CONDITIONS & RESTRICTIONS: The scholarship portion of each prize is contingent upon proof that prizewinner has been admitted and will enroll at the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College within 2 years of winning prize. Recipient must also major or have an official concentration in Baking/Pastry or Culinary at the college and must in good faith continue in the school program and comply with all such school’s policies, rules, regulations and other requirements for participation. Failure to do so shall result in forfeiture of scholarship prize, at the college’s sole discretion. The scholarship portion of the prize(s) may be applied to qualified tuition and related expenses as defined in 26 USC Section 117 at a qualifying institution (i.e., tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment required for enrollment or attendance). Scholarship prize may not cover full educational cost and some costs may be excluded. Scholarship money for each recipient may only be applied to the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College for each recipient and will be paid directly to Atlantic Cape Community College. Scholarship prize money will be provided by Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation, and the administration and distribution of such prize money will be coordinated through the college and the grand prize winners. If prize winner does not qualify for the full amount of scholarship funds won, the remaining funds will be forfeited. Unused portions of scholarship for any reason, including withdrawal, transfer or non-attendance, will be forfeited. Prize(s) are non-transferable, non-assignable, non-exchangeable and not redeemable for cash. Any difference between the approximate retail value of any portion of Prize(s) and the actual final retail value will not be awarded. In the event a Prize or any part thereof becomes unavailable for any reason through no fault of prizewinner, the college reserves the right to provide a substitute prize of similar type or value. The knife kits are not available for shipping and/or delivery and must be picked up at the college as directed by Financial Aid. The college’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

PRIZE TAXES: All federal state, local and other tax liabilities arising from this Contest, including without limitation, winning any Prizes, are solely the respective responsibility of the individual Finalists and Winner.

THE COLLEGE DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES: TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THIS CONTEST AND THE PRIZE(S) ARE PROVIDED AS-IS WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY, REPRESENTATION OR GUARANTEE, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, IN FACT OR IN LAW, WHETHER NOW KNOWN OR HEREINAFTER ENACTED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

ENTRANT WARRANTY & GRANT OF RIGHTS AND LICENSE: By entering the Contest, entrant represents and warrants that all materials and ideas submitted by entrant, including but not limited to the photo and recipe (collectively, the “Entry Materials”), are entrant’s own original work created or made by entrant and that submission of the Entry Materials and the rights granted to The college herein do not and will not violate any law, regulation or any right of any third-party, including but not limited to rights of copyright, trademark, trade secret, patent, publicity and/or privacy. Entrant further represents and warrants that all information provided to the college through the entry or otherwise in connection with the Contest is truthful and accurate to the best of entrant’s knowledge. Entry Materials will not be returned. By submitting the Entry Materials, entrant grants to the college all ownership rights in and to the Entry Materials, including without limitation, the irrevocable right to use, display, post, broadcast, edit, modify and license it to others in all media now or hereafter known throughout the world in perpetuity for any purpose whatsoever without compensation.

GENERAL RULES & DISCLAIMERS: By entering, each entrant agrees to these Official Rules and the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use of atlantic.edu (located at the end of these Rules). Entrant agrees that the college has the sole right to decide all matters and disputes arising in any way from the Contest and that all of college’s decisions are binding and final. The college is not responsible and assume no liability for incomplete, lost, late or illegible entries, entries that do not comply with the Official Rules, and/or technical, mechanical or electronic failures, hacking, tampering or problems of any kind, including without limitation, interruptions in or unavailability of services, delayed or filtered communications or transmissions, and errors, defects or malfunctions in computer, digital device or other equipment hardware or software. The college is not responsible and assume no liability for false, incorrect, changed, incomplete or illegible contact information and/or unsuccessful efforts to notify contestants, Finalists or Winner. The college is not responsible and assume no liability for any errors and/or ambiguity in the Contest, any related advertising or promotion of this Contest and/or these Official Rules. In the event of any ambiguity or error in these Official Rules, the college reserves the right to modify these Official Rules for clarification purposes or to correct any such ambiguity or error without materially affecting the terms and conditions of the Contest. The college, in its sole discretion, may disqualify any entrant if entrant engages in any conduct the college deems to be improper, unfair, contrary to these Rules or otherwise adverse to the operation of the Contest or detrimental to other entrants of the Contest. Entrants agree that the college may void the Prize that entrant may have won as a result of such improper conduct and require its return by all reasonable means. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned by reason of infection by computer virus, worms, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause which the college, in its sole opinion believes could corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Contest, the college reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Contest.

 

PUBLICITY RELEASE TERMS: Except where legally prohibited, each contestant grants to the  college the right to use, reuse and license others to use his/her name, state of residence, photograph, and/or likeness, and any entry which has been submitted, for advertising, publicity, promotion and/or disclosure purposes in all media worldwide without limitation or additional compensation. Anyone from the college may contact any of the Finalists in connection with any marketing or advertising opportunities.

 

RELEASE OF LIABILITY & INDEMNITY : By entering the Contest, entrant agrees to release, hold harmless and indemnify the college, Facebook, Shortstack.com, each of the foregoing entities’ parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, successors, assigns, and all of the foregoing entities’ respective employees, talent, officers, directors, representatives, agents and shareholders (collectively, the “Released/Indemnified Parties”), from and against any and all claims, causes of action, damages, losses or liabilities of any nature whatsoever at any time (including without limitation, claims relating to defamation, privacy, publicity, emotional distress, copyright, trademark or other such infringement, trespass, property damage, personal injury and/or death) which may arise or result, directly or indirectly, in whole or part, from participation in the Contest, participation in any activity related to the Contest (including without limitation, the Challenges and/or any travel in connection with the Contest or Prize), and/or the awarding, receipt, possession, use and/or misuse of the Prize or any part thereof. Entrant understands that he/she may hereafter discover facts unknown to him/her at the time of executing this Release. Notwithstanding any rights entrant would otherwise have under any applicable law, to the maximum extent permitted by law, entrant hereby waives any and all rights entrant may have under such law(s) any hereby expressly, fully and forever releases any known or unknown, suspected or unsuspected, contingent or non-contingent claims against the Released/Indemnified Parties, without regard to the subsequent discovery or existence of such unknown facts. IN NO EVENT WILL ANY OF THE RELEASED/INDEMNIFIED PARTIES BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR ACCESS TO AND PARTICIPATION IN THE CONTEST AND ANY OF ITS ACTIVITIES, UNLESS, AND TO THE EXTENT, SUCH LIMITATION OF LIABILITY IS PROHIBITED BY LAW IN A PARTICULAR JURISDICTION.

PARENTAL CONSENT: If entrant is under the age of 18, entrant must obtain the consent of his/her parent or legal guardian prior to entering. Such entrant’s parent or legal guardian must agree to these Official Rules on behalf of entrant.

CONTEST PAPERWORK: Prior to competing in the Challenges and redeeming any Prize(s), Finalists (and Finalist’s parent or legal guardian, if Finalist is under the age of 18) must sign and execute all appearance, liability, eligibility, publicity, consent and prize releases and/or affidavits required by the college, as well as a W-9 tax form (together, the “Contest Forms”). Failure to return executed Contest Forms prior to the start of the Challenges, may result in disqualification and/or forfeiture of Prize(s), in the college’s sole discretion. In addition the parent and/or legal guardian of all contestants under the age of 18 must sign certain consents and releases relating to potential travel to Atlantic City. Failure to do so may result in disqualification, in the college’s sole discretion. Third party prize providers may also require prizewinners to sign and execute additional release forms and other documentation.

MISC.: Odds of winning depend on the respective skill of the entrants and the number of eligible entries received. This Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and is void where prohibited. No purchase necessary. (This Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by Facebook. Entrants are providing information to the college and not to Facebook.) No one person may submit more than two recipes for the entire contest or may face disqualification.  Only one recipe will be selected for final judging.
