Build a Better Watercolor

Painter Linda Gazsi will lead a series of exercises focused on composition and drawing problems (and solutions) in “Build a Better Watercolor.” Participants will have the option of working from photographs (subject matter your choice) or setting up a still life. From problem solving using compositional tricks and reinforcing the idea of a structurally sound under-drawing, Linda will lead workshop participants through useful strategies toward a much more visually pleasing and interesting painting. The focus is on planning, developing and the early stages of a watercolor for better outcomes. (Ages 18 and up.)

Zones in the Landscape*

Workshop favorite James McFarlane feels that creating the illusion of depth on a two-dimensional surface can be tricky. In watercolor, the foreground, middle ground and background can be instrumental in achieving a sense of depth in the landscape. Lighting and weather conditions can alter the traditional light pattern of the landscape. This workshop will help the artist take certain measures to not only create the illusion of depth, but to also lead the viewer to the most important part of the painting. *This is an advanced watercolor workshop for experienced watercolor painters. (Ages 18 and up.)
