The Joy of Painting Pastel Landscapes

Diane Tomash will lead a workshop focusing on the creation of color pastel landscape paintings. From designing the landscape composition with convincing depth to layering colors to create atmospheric effects, artists new and experienced with soft chalk pastels will learn about the finer points of this popular medium as applied to landscape subject matter. (Ages 18 and up.)

Painting Animals in Gouache

Learn about painting animals in gouache in a workshop with Robert Stack. Robert, a Devon Horse Show artists’ favorite, is fluent in the use of gouache and uses this painting medium to create vibrant, colorful paintings of domestic and farm animals. Robert will share his techniques using this opaque medium, which has a great degree of flexibility and tremendous luminosity.

Painting the Landscape with Acrylics

Bobbie Berg, well known realist painter, returns to follow up her “Drawing Trees” workshop with an acrylic workshop that encompasses the whole concept of the landscape. She will direct the group about the process of painting the landscape in acrylics from start to finish. Bobbie, an expert prize-winning acrylic painter, will share her simple techniques in this versatile medium to help you achieve a realistic and convincing acrylic painting. All skill levels welcome. (Ages 18 and up.)

Watercolor Florals

Award-winning artist Jo-Ann Osnoe will lead this workshop to capture the beauty of flowers in watercolor. Working from life, we will discover watercolor techniques that best express the ephemeral quality of our floral set-ups. Through exercises, we will explore the variety of shapes found in petals and leaves to help portray the individual character of our subject. Color, value and composition will be discussed as they apply in creating a spontaneous and expressive work of art. Individual style will be encouraged. (Ages 18 and up.)

NEW! Guitar Basics

Have you always wanted to learn how to play the guitar? Studies have shown that playing a musical instrument can benefit both your mental and physical health. It stimulates the brain and improves memory. Have fun while learning the basics from Eric “Rick” Land of Rick’s Rock Guitar School, who has 10 years of experience playing and teaching. You will learn chords, scales, music theory and your favorite songs. Bring your own guitar; an electronic tuner is recommended.
