Prerequisite: Medical Terminology, Medical Billing and Insurance and the ability to read, write and speak English.

The Department of Health and Human Services is calling for the adoption of a new edition of the International Classification of Diseases standards known as the 10th edition using Clinical Modification for reporting patient diagnosis. On Oct. 1, 2014, ICD-10 coding will change and allow for more detail with its seven alphanumeric characters instead of the 5-digit ICD-9 code set that has been used for the last 30 years. This course will help transition experienced coders to the new ICD-10 system. This class applies to all health care settings.
