In this workshop, you will learn the power and ease of using WordPress to make your own website. NEW! Introduction to Digital Image Manipulation (GIMP)

Prerequisite: Basic computer knowledge and experience with Windows

Learn the basics of Digital Image Manipulation without the high price tag using GIMP to create and/or manipulate digital images. As an introductory course, it provides a basic understanding of the skills and techniques that can be used for image retouching and editing, painting, layers, resizing, cropping, editable text, learning to convert between different image formats, and using GIMP for Web design and 3D applications. (GIMP is an open source program that rivals Photoshop.)

Prerequisite: Basic computer knowledge, experience with Windows, and introductory course in Digital Image Manipulation.

Now that you know the basics, take your digital projects to the next level. The Intermediate Course in Digital Image Manipulation will expand upon the intricacies of GIMP and use more advanced techniques such as layer masks and filters. This course will also touch on the skills you need to add texture to your 3D models.

Unlock the power of digital image manipulation with a deeper examination of GIMP. We will cover vectors, the clone tool, compositing images, creating textures and optimizing images for the Web in this advanced course.

NEW! Introduction to 3D Modeling (Blender)

Prerequisite: Basic computer knowledge and experience with Windows.

Have you ever wanted to create your very own character or video game environments? The Introduction to 3D Modeling course uses the open source 3D program Blender and is intended to offer students an introduction to the world of computer-generated 3D modeling. As an introductory course, it provides a basic understanding of the skills and techniques employed by 3D designers in a wide range of applications. In this course, we will explore the Blender interface, learn to move in 3D space and basic mesh modeling. (Blender is an open source program that rivals 3DSMax, Maya and Cinema 4D.)

NEW! Intermediate Course on 3D Modeling (Blender)

Prerequisite: Basic computer knowledge, experience with Windows, and Introduction to
3D Modeling.

Now that you have a basic character or environment, learn the skills to make it look beautiful. The Intermediate Course on 3D Modeling for animation will delve deeper into the interface of the Blender program. We will look at the process of surfacing, also known as texturing, to determine the colors and textures of the models, deciding how each one will react within the scene. We will demonstrate the UV layout process, the creation of our textures in an external image editing package, and the construction of Blender materials using the Node Editor.
Note: This session will use of the GNU Image Manipulation Program, or GIMP. Introduction to the GIMP program is available on Wednesday evenings for those who do not own a copy of Photoshop. However, we encourage you to use whatever image editor you own or with which you are most comfortable.

NEW! Advanced Course for Animation Basics (Blender)

Prerequisite: Basic computer knowledge, experience with Windows, and introductory
and intermediate courses on 3D Modeling.

You have made your character, now let’s make it move! This course will take the model you created and show you how to do a simple 1020 Second animation using Blender. You will learn the basics of key frames, exporting your animation, setting up the world environment and lighting and camera systems.
