NEW! The Art of Teaching Adults

Have you ever thought about teaching adults but feel you don’t possess the necessary skills? Do you have an area of expertise that you would like to share with others? This 60-hour program is designed for individuals interested in teaching adult learners in areas including but not limited to: computers, personal and professional development, language, creative arts and literacy. Twenty hours of the program will be in a traditional classroom setting and 40 hours will be delivered online. The program is designed to give trainees both fundamental and practical knowledge of teaching. Trainees will learn a variety of teaching techniques and methodologies to help them feel more confident in the classroom.

As part of the 20 hours of traditional classroom teaching, a 10-hour teaching practicum will be arranged. At the end of the program, trainees will be recommended to present a portfolio and will be evaluated teaching a lesson during the practicum. (6.0 CEUs)

This course is self-paced; however, three in-class meetings are recommended on the following three Saturdays: Sept. 27, Oct. 18, Nov. 15.

Podcasting 101 for Educators

iPods, MP3 players, vodcasts, educasts...all new to you? Not after this workshop! If you want to learn how to podcast and deliver lessons via MP3 players and iPods, this workshop is for you! By the end of this 12-hour hands-on workshop, you will understand all the latest techno terms and be able to create, upload and use pod/vodcasts for educational purposes.

Teaching Pronunciation for ESL Professionals

Super-segmentals, sibilants, voiced and voiceless and more, oh my! This workshop is designed for novice ESL teachers, or those who would just like a refresher in phonetics. Learn all the ins and outs of language pronunciation teaching. You will study the technical terms of pronunciation teaching and learn how to apply them to your ESL lessons.

Teaching Grammar for ESL Professionals

Are you new to ESL teaching or would you just like to learn how to deliver your grammar lessons more effectively? Then this is a workshop for you! Learn the nuances of American English grammatical structures and how you can design lessons that are engaging and successful.

Teaching English as a Second Language

Learn to teach adults English as a Second Language! This 60-hour program is designed for individuals interested in teaching adult learners of ESL or EFL. Twenty hours of the program will be in a traditional classroom setting and 40 hours will be delivered online. The program is designed to give trainees both fundamental and practical knowledge of ESL teaching. Trainees learn a variety of language teaching techniques and methodologies. Techniques for teaching each language skill area (grammar, reading, writing, listening, speaking, pronunciation and culture) will also be covered in individual modules.

As part of the 20 hours of traditional classroom teaching, a 10-hour teaching practicum will be arranged. At the end of the program, trainees will be recommended to present a portfolio and will be evaluated teaching a lesson during the practicum.
