Patient Care Technician

Prerequisites: High school diploma or GED, physical exam including drug screening, documentation of immunizations, PPD test and hepatitis B series and a criminal background check. Proof must be provided on first day of class. Candidates must successfully complete academic assessment test.

Patient Care Technicians provide basic patient care in a hospital setting. You will learn patient care skills and behaviors needed to gain an entry-level position as a patient care technician, phlebotomist or EKG technician. The curriculum includes Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, CPR certification, Phlebotomy, EKG and HIPAA awareness. Clinical experience at a regional medical facility is included with this training.

Students’ clinical schedules are dependent upon the medical facility schedules. Students completing all course requirements will be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification examination. The cost of this exam is included in the program fee.
