College Adopts Five-Year Strategic Plan

After more than a year of research, interaction with vital stakeholders and consensus-building on key issues, the college adopted a new five-year strategic plan to guide Atlantic Cape’s future. The Board of Trustees approved the 2012-2016 Atlantic Cape Strategic Plan at its February 2011 meeting, and commended the planning team for its work.

Dr. Peter L. Mora, President, thanked members of the college-wide Strategic Planning Steering Committee for their dedication and perseverance. “Their task was great, and their achievement substantial.

“This plan will guide us through the next five years, enabling us to provide our students with the tools they will need to be successful at Atlantic Cape,” Dr. Mora said. “This five-year plan includes our new mission and vision statements, as well as the three strategic goals that will support their implementation. These goals are ambitious, measurable and, most importantly, achievable.”

The plan went into effect July 1, 2011, and employees received new mission statement cards and desk copies of the strategic planning document, which also appears on the college website.

The 2012-2016 Atlantic Cape Strategic Plan was developed by the Strategic Planning Steering Committee, which was appointed by the President and Senior Staff. In conjunction with the college’s Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment department, the group carried out a strategic planning process that included feedback from internal and external stakeholders to develop a comprehensive plan to address the needs of the community. A strategic planning consultant provided guidance for the committee through the initial development of activities for a planning retreat held in February 2010 that launched a community needs assessment.

This five-year plan includes our new mission and vision statements, as well as the three strategic goals that will support their implementation. These goals are ambitious, measurable and, most importantly, achievable.
