New Award Honors Distinguished Alumna

Atlantic Cape conferred the first President’s Distinguished Alumni Award to Dr. Janice DeCicco Fipp, superintendent of the Northfield School District, at the 43rd Annual Commencement in May 2010.

Dr. Janice DeCicco Fipp—Education

  • Atlantic Cape Community College, associate degree
  • Glassboro State College, bachelor’s and master’s degrees
  • Nova Southeastern University, doctorate

Dr. Fipp, of Northfield, attended the college from 1968 to 1970, then went on to Glassboro State College to earn a bachelor’s degree in general elementary education and a master’s degree in supervision and curriculum development. In 1999, Dr. Fipp earned a doctorate in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

She has served as:

  • Teacher, in Linwood and Northfield schools
  • Principal, Northfield Community School
  • Adjunct instructor, Atlantic Cape, University of Phoenix, The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and Rutgers University

“I have truly become a lifelong learner,” Dr. Fipp said. “A great deal of the passion and insatiable appetite that I have for knowledge was instilled in me from the many outstanding professors I had at Atlantic Cape.”

The award, initiated by Atlantic Cape’s Alumni Association Advisory Committee, recognizes an Atlantic Cape graduate who has demonstrated professional, personal, public or community-based accomplishments. The prestigious award demonstrates Atlantic Cape’s dedication to strengthening its alumni relations.
