Student Information for Commencement
Atlantic Cape Community College awarded more than 670 associate in arts, associate in applied science and associate in science degrees at the school's 41st commencement, at 4 p.m., Thursday, May 29. Dr.
Richard L. McCormick, president of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, delivered the keynote address.

Commencement procedures:
If you will have completed the requirements for your degree by the end of the Spring 2008 semester, you should follow the instructions below if you plan to walk in the commencement ceremony:
- If you have not already done so, you must complete a Degree Processing Card. Degree Processing Cards are available in Enrollment Services in Mays Landing or in the Student Services area at WACC and the Cape May County campus. Complete the card and take pay the $30.00 degree processing fee.
- If you want to receive your diploma at Commencement, or if you want your name to appear in the newspaper and the Commencement program, you must submit the Degree Processing Card by February 15th, 2008. This deadline MUST be met in order to complete the process to receive your diploma at the Commencement ceremony.
- If you are not participating in the ceremony, and do not wish to have your name appear in the newspaper or Commencement program, you may complete the degree processing card anytime before or after February 15th. After receiving your degree processing card, the Enrollment Services staff will complete a degree audit. You will be notified by postcard of the results.
- IF YOU ARE SHORT MORE THAN TWO COURSES OR HAVE A GPA BELOW A 2.0, YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY. Students who fail a course in the spring semester, which brings them over the two course limit or below a 2.0 GPA, will not be permitted to participate in the commencement ceremony.
- If you plan to register for a class during the first summer session at ACCC and the meeting time conflicts with Commencement, please contact the Dean of Students office at (609)343-5083 or (609)463-4774, ext. 5083.
- If you previously attended another college or university and have had a transcript sent to ACCC, contact the Admissions Office at (609)343-5006 or (609)463-4774, ext. 5006 to check that the courses have been evaluated and appear on your transcript.
- One member of the graduating class each year is eligible to serve a one-year membership on the ACCC Board of Trustees. This position is filled through an election process. The elected student will be seated in November 2008 and serve until the following November. If you or another graduate are interested in being considered for this position, visit the Dean of Student’s office to submit your name or nomination by March 3, 2008.

Caps, Gowns and Honor Stoles
Cap, gown and honor stole must be ordered and paid for at the College Bookstore by Friday, March 28th, 2008. The cost for a cap, gown and tassel is $26.99 (an extra tassel is $4.99). The cost for the honor stole (including a red tassel) is $22.99. Payment must be made at time of order. A $10 late fee will be charged for orders after March 28th. Caps and Gowns will not be ordered or sold after May 15th. Caps
and gowns may be picked up at the College Bookstore in Mays Landing with
your receipt after May 5th, 2008 (if ordered by March 28th).
If you already have a cap and gown, please notify the Dean of Students Office at (609)343-5083, or (609)463-4774, ext. 5083, that you will be participating or your name will not be called.
The Bookstore hours are: Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m
Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Closed Spring Break, March 17th through March 21st.
Announcements, tickets (needed for rain only, indoor ceremony, maximum 3 per graduate) and a detailed instruction sheet for fair and rainy weather will be enclosed in your cap and gown package when you pick it up.
Honors Criteria
There are two CGPA criteria for honor status that can make you eligible
to wear an honor stole:
- If
you entered ACCC prior to Fall 1994 and have a CGPA of 3.0 or above
- If
you entered ACCC during/after Fall 1994 and have a CGPA of 3.5 or above
IMPORTANT: You MUST fall under one of the above criteria using your Fall 2007 CGPA to be eligible to wear an honor stole. Spring 2008 grades cannot be counted in your CGPA for Commencement.
