Policy No. 840

Area: Human Resources

Description: Performance Appraisal and Evaluation

Adopted: 04/23/96
Revisions Approved:

Performance appraisal and evaluation is recognized by the college as an important supervisory responsibility. Correctly undertaken, this activity provides a dual purpose and value. While the process is required as an official record and guide in the decisions for retention, reappointment, tenure and promotion, it has an equal goal in assisting employees in the improvement of their performance. It facilitates the process of communication and understanding concerning what is expected of the employee and how well the employee is functioning. The college can also expect a better understanding of the types of training and development opportunities which should be provided so that current assignments as well as promotional opportunities will be enhanced.
