July 8, 2010
Atlantic Cape Community College basketball player Justina Mishkovsky, an Egg Harbor City native and graduate of Oakcrest High School, was named a 2009-2010 NJCAA Academic All-American.
As co-captain and guard for the Buccaneers women’s basketball team, Mishkovsky, who also plays shortstop for the Bucs softball team, is known to lead by example, said Mike Rennick, senior athletics and fitness manager for Atlantic Cape.
Mishkovsky has received numerous honors this year, including being named “Woman of the Year” by the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women I, NJCAA Leader for Life Student Athlete of the Week, All-Garden State Athletic Conference 2nd Team-Softball, and Academic All Region for basketball and softball.
Outside of athletics, Mishkovsky is very involved in helping her community. The sophomore works regularly with her church at a homeless shelter and food pantry. She also helps in fundraising for the homeless and distributes food to needy families.
Academically, she has received many honors including a New Jersey STARS scholarship to attend Atlantic Cape and was named to the All-Region 19 Academic Team. In her three semesters at Atlantic Cape, she has been on the Dean’s List and holds a 3.77 GPA.
After her graduating from Atlantic Cape, Mishkovsky plans to attend a four-year school and major in education to become a health and physical education teacher.
