May 29, 2009
The Adjunct Teaching Excellence Award was presented to history instructor Levi Fox of Somers Point during the May 21 commencement at Atlantic Cape Community College.
A graduate of Mainland Regional High School, Fox earned a Master of Arts in American Studies from the University of Iowa and dual B.A. degrees in history and anthropology from the University of Virginia, from which he graduated magna cum laude.
Fox has been an adjunct instructor at ACCC since 2006, and a Student Development Specialist in the college's Career and Academic Planning Center since 2008. In addition, he is a part-time lecturer at Rutgers University and an adjunct professor at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.
Fox is renowned for his passion for his subject, his enthusiastic participation in school activities and for his unique, creative approach to teaching. He has been known to dress in period costumes to portray historical figures from the past.
Fox said of the award: "It is an honor to be recognized and appreciated. Given how much I enjoy teaching, I don't think of it as a job."
Fox also hopes to some day soon get to teach history full time at the college level.
