Assistant Professor of Hospitality Management Receives Lindback Award
May 29, 2009
Donna Vassallo of Egg Harbor Township, assistant professor of hospitality management and business at Atlantic Cape Community College, received the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Excellence Award during the college's May 21 commencement.
Vassallo joined ACCC in 1988 as an adjunct faculty instructor in the hospitality management program. She was promoted to full-time faculty instructor in 2004, then to assistant professor in 2006. She also teaches noncredit courses in the college's Continuing Education program.
"To be recognized for a profession that feels more like a passion is truly an honor," she said. "This award acknowledges the core values I believe in and try to model for our students - academic excellence, motivation, continuous improvement and accessibility. I join an impressive group of colleagues who emulate the same values."
The Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation of Philadelphia endows the award to outstanding teachers at select colleges and universities in southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. ACCC was honored to be added to the list of institutions to present this award in 2001. ACCC gives the award to one faculty member at commencement each spring.
