Restaurant Gala Reaches $2 Million Milestone

The Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala marked its 26th anniversary by surpassing the $2 million milestone for scholarships raised. The March 12 Gala featured 40 of the best restaurants from the region and raised $200,000 for student scholarships at the Academy of Culinary Arts and ACCC.

Bally's Atlantic City hosted the annual fundraiser, which featured the island-inspired theme "A Taste of Paradise." The event showcased the talents of the culinary students at the Academy of Culinary Arts, who prepared thousands of sumptuous hot and cold hors d'oeuvres served during cocktail hour. A dessert extravaganza organized by Master Pastry Chef Eugen Ess of Trump Taj Mahal capped off the evening. Some attendees also won Tiffany jewelry through the Tiffany & Co.'s Pearls for a Cause promotion.

Event sponsors included Bally's Atlantic City, Cape Bank Charitable Foundation, Trump Entertainment Resorts, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, Tiffany & Co., Newschannel NBC-40, Guthrie Glass and Mirror and Baumgardner Construction Co.

A 50/50 raffle raised nearly $16,000 for college scholarships. The first prize of $9,480 went to Richard Williams of Blackwood; second prize winner Joe Canal's Liquor of Egg Harbor Township received $4,470; and third prize winner Helen Walsh of Margate received $1,580. Winning amounts were based on more than 300 tickets sold.
