Winners of the ACCC Idol Talent Show Announced

Fourteen students competed for the title of "ACCC Idol" during a talent show held at the Mays Landing Campus of Atlantic Cape Community College on Friday, March 28.

Education major Elasha Laster of Pleasantville was named the winner for her interpretive dance to the song "I Need You." Second place winner was Ricky Tobias of Galloway who sang the rap song, "Cockiness." Third place went to Aaron Palin of Pleasantville for his singing performance of "Secret Admirer."

Attendees enjoyed guest performances by 13-year-old Marcus Young of Pleasantville; Kevin Walker of Mays Landing; Lynette Ingram of Brigantine, counselor and Black Student Alliance advisor; and Aline Bennett of Atlantic City, counseling and support services office coordinator.

Other students who participated were Jill Scheer of Galloway, David and Daniel Poellnitz of Mays Landing, Rezeda Shaymardanova of Egg Harbor Township, Hakeem Torian of Pleasantville, Priscilla Cuthbertston of Pleasantville, Capowera Martial Arts Group led by ACCC student Eduardo Alvarez of Egg Harbor Township, Tia Collins of Mays Landing, Roberto Ortiz of Brigantine, Diamond Betterson of Williamstown and Isiah Showell of Pleasantville.

Judges were Student Development Specialist Patricia Kelleher of Egg Harbor City, Support Services Counselor Hal Lugerner of Egg Harbor City, Assistant Director of Admissions Linda McLeod of Atlantic City and student Joana Stamper of Pleasantville. Support Services Counselor Tammy DeFranco of Seaville and ACCC Student Shawn Mills of Pleasantville served as emcees.

The contest was sponsored by the Black Student Alliance. The event raised $130. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Girl Scout Troop #12278 of Atlantic City.
