Children of the Holocaust Subject of March 11 Play at ACCC

February 6, 2008

The Pushcart Players will present a moving tribute to children of the Holocaust at Atlantic Cape Community College on Tuesday, March 11, 12:30 p.m. in the Walter Edge Theater.

"The Last, the Very Last...Butterfly" is a collection of poems, narratives and drawings created by children who passed through the Terezin Concentration Camp located in what is now the Czech Republic between 1942-44. The production is underscored with music, sound and visual media.

The subject matter illustrates the hopes, dreams and feelings of children confined to a place with little food, comfort or clothing, where few lived beyond the age of 12.

Playwright Ruth Fost says she wrote this not just as a reminder of a very sad chapter in history, but also to illustrate to others their roles in nurturing and protecting freedom.

The Pushcart Players is a respected New Jersey professional theater troupe that presents productions for young people and families. This play is suitable for children 10 and older.

The performance is free and open to the public.

The Walter Edge Theater is at the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike. For more information, call Janet Brenner at (609) 343-4858.
