ACA Plans Memorial for Chef John Carbone Sept. 26

The Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College will plant a tree in memory of former Chef Educator John Carbone, Certified Culinary Educator, Certified Executive Chef, and American Academy of Chefs certified, at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26, outside of the Careme's greenhouse. A reception will follow at Careme's, the student-run restaurant at the Academy, 5100 Black Horse Pike, Mays Landing.

Carbone was a hospitality/apprenticeship instructor from 1978-81, and a chef educator from 1981, when the ACA opened, until his retirement in 1997. He died June 6 at age 79. During his tenure at the Academy, Chef Carbone was well known for his involvement with the students. He acted as the advisor for the American Culinary Federation junior members for many years and served as a mentor for students.
