Medical Assistant Program Graduates Seven

August 22, 2007

One hundred percent of students who completed Atlantic Cape Community College's first Medical Assistant program passed the National Health Association test for certification. The college offered the 11-month training program through its Health Professions Institute.

The students are: Melissa A. Arena of Cape May, Margaret Lynn Boone of Northfield, Marlene Delgado of West Creek, Barbara Anne Fahey of Brigantine, Lianette Mercedes Gonzalez of Pleasantville, Patricia J. Keith of Atlantic City and Kysha Nicole Washington of Absecon.

Medical assisting is one of the fastest growing careers, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Students received a variety of intense training preparing them for administrative and clinical duties in the offices of physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors and other healthcare facilities. Clinical duties include taking medical histories, recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination and assisting the physician during the examination.

ACCC will offer the next Medical Assistant session in October.
