ACCC Archers Compete in World University Games

August 31, 2005

Two archers who trained with Atlantic Cape Community Collegeís archery team represented the United States at the 2005 Summer World University Games in Izmir, Turkey, Aug. 11-21. Many athletes use this event as a stepping stone to the Olympics.

Brett Lazaroff of Absecon and Sagar Mistry of Brigantine filled two of the three slots on the menís recurve team, which earned a ninth place finish in the team competition, according to the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Lazaroff finished in a tie for 52nd in the menís individual competition. He is pursuing an associate in science degree in general studies at ACCC. Mistry finished ninth in the individual competition. He studied computer information systems at ACCC before transferring to the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in 2003. Both men trained with ACCCís longtime archery coach, Helen Bolnick.

The World University Games are held every two years at locations around the world.
