Academy of Culinary Arts Sets Fall Open Houses
September 6, 2005The Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College will host open houses this fall at its Mays Landing campus, including: Friday, Nov. 4, 9 a.m.; and Friday, Dec. 9, 9 a.m. Anyone who is interested in beginning an exciting career in culinary arts, baking and pastry, or food service management is welcome to attend. The Academy of Culinary Arts offers two-year degree programs in culinary arts, food service management and baking and pastry. Short-term specialization programs are also available in Baking and Pastry, Hot Food, Catering and Food Service Management. Students can earn these certificates in just nine months—an ideal situation for industry professionals who want to strengthen their skills or for food enthusiasts who want to satisfy their culinary curiosity. The ACA, New Jersey’s largest cooking school, opened in 1981 to meet the growing needs of the hospitality industry. Full-time classes meet five hours a day, Monday through Friday, in a morning or afternoon session from January through May and August through December. Full- or part-time evening classes are offered two nights a week on eight-week cycles. Because the ACA is a division of a public institution, it costs considerably less than comparable two year cooking schools. Scholarships, work study opportunities and financial aid are available.
