You can "taste the thrill" of the best and most innovative dishes from 40 area restaurants at the region's premier black-tie fundraising event. The 24th Annual Press of Atlantic City Restaurant Gala: Live and Let's Dine is scheduled for Wednesday, March 7, at the Atlantic City Convention Center.

The annual event, with its James Bond-inspired theme, also includes music, dancing and a dessert extravaganza. The Gala raises scholarship money for students at the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College.

The event, presented by Commerce Bank, has raised more than $1.4 million for scholarships since 1984, including a record-breaking $223,000 at the sold-out 2006 event.

Also at this year's Restaurant Gala, the Honorable John J. Schultz and Gary L. Hill will be honored for their philanthropic efforts and community work in the South Jersey area and the Atlantic City hospitality industry.

Beginning with a sumptuous cocktail, raw bar, hot and cold hors d'oeuvres reception prepared and served by ACA students at 6:30 p.m., the evening will progress to a dining extravaganza at 8 p.m. Live music by the Melanie Rice Orchestra and an elegant dessert reception, headed by Master Pastry Chef Eugen Ess, will complete the night's events.
