Atlantic Cape Offers Professional Certificate Programs to Prepare Students for Specific Jobs
December 23, 2016
Atlantic Cape Community College will offer 27 Professional Certificate Series programs this spring that give students entry-level skills for specific jobs. Each series can be taken on a part-time basis in the day or evening with many courses available online. Students begin and end the program at their own pace, and many programs can be completed in one year. In addition, credits earned may be applied toward an Atlantic Cape associate degree.
Programs provide training in a variety of positions, ranging from an addiction counseling specialist to an unmanned aircraft specialist with many programs focusing on computer careers. Two such programs are the PC Specialist and the Web Design Professional.
The PC Specialist series is designed for those who own a business, work in an office, want to develop internet proficiency or update their skills. Students will learn how to select and use hardware and software for a business and how to supervise a small PC operation. This one-semester series also will cover common business software applications, PC operating system software, file management, multimedia, and the internet and the World Wide Web.
The college also will offer Web Design Professional, a two-semester series, designed for professionals who would like to become proficient in web page design techniques. Students will use industry-standard design applications while exploring theoretical web design concepts and generally accepted development techniques for web and web graphics and animation design. Upon completion of these courses, students will be prepared to sit for the Macromedia Dreamweaver Developer Certification exam.
