Designer Cheesesteak Proceeds at Patís Steaks in Philadelphia to Benefit Academy of Culinary Arts Dec. 7
November 29, 2016
If you’re hungry for a delicious cheesesteak, then Dec. 7 is the day to act on that impulse and help raise scholarship money for local culinary students! The designer cheesesteak created by Lynn Hoffman will be available from noon-2 p.m., Dec. 7, at Pat’s Steaks in Philadelphia. The culinary arts degree program at Drexel University, founded by Hoffman, and the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College will benefit from the proceeds raised.
Over the last year, Pat’s Steaks Guest Celebrity Chefs series has given the likes of Marc Vetri, Jose Garces and Michael Solomonov of Zahav, an opportunity to create a gourmet steak sandwich with proceeds going to the charity of their choice. Frank Olivieri, Pat’s owner, has come up with another surprise for December: a sandwich created by possibly the best non-celebrity chef in the city. Hoffman’s take on the famous sandwich includes blue cheese, bacon and caramelized onions.
Hoffman has strong ties to the academy, having taught a variety of credit and noncredit courses, and serving as the 2011 Beacons by the Sea Visiting Professor at Atlantic Cape.
The cost of the cheesesteak is $10, which Pat’s Steaks will match and donate the proceeds to both the ACA at Atlantic Cape and the culinary program at Drexel.
The ACA has been training future chefs by nationally recognized chef educators for 35 years, and is accredited by the American Culinary Federation. The ACA was named No. 1 culinary school in New Jersey by Best Choice Schools. For more information about the ACA, call 1-800-645‑CHEF, email email@example.com, or visit www.atlantic.edu/aca.
