Academy of Culinary Arts Sets Fall Open Houses
September 29, 2006The Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College will host four open houses this fall at its Mays Landing Campus, including: Sunday, Oct. 1, 1 p.m.; Friday, Oct. 27, 9 a.m.; Friday, Dec. 8, 9:30 a.m.; and Wednesday, Dec. 13, 4:30 p.m. The open house events are open to anyone interested in beginning an exciting culinary career. The Academy of Culinary Arts offers two-year degree programs in culinary arts, food service management and baking and pastry. Students can also earn a culinary arts or baking and pastry certificate in just three semesters or complete one of four short-term specialization in less than one year in Baking and Pastry, Hot Food, Catering and Food Service Management. The ACA opened in 1981 to meet the growing needs of the hospitality industry. It is celebrating 25 years of educating professional chefs with a series of special events this fall. Full-time classes at the Academy meet five hours a day, Monday through Friday, in a morning or afternoon session from January through May and August through December. Full- or part-time evening classes are offered two nights a week on eight-week cycles. Because the ACA is a division of a public institution, it costs considerably less than comparable two year cooking schools. Scholarships, work study opportunities and financial aid are available.
