Performing Arts Club Crosses the Pond for 'London Suite'

April 11, 2014

Atlantic Cape Community College’s Performing Arts Club will premiere the Neil Simon classic, London Suite. Performances are 7 p.m., Friday, April 25, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., Saturday, April 26, in the Walter Edge Theater at Atlantic Cape’s Mays Landing Campus. The production gives students a chance to hone their acting abilities and learn the elements of stage production.

London Suite includes four separate one-act plays combined into a comedic, but heart-felt production. “Don’t miss this wonderful show with a group of wonderful actors who have really risen to the occasion to make our show the best it could be,” said Phil Pallitto, director.

In Settling Accounts, Brian, a wealthy novelist must reclaim his fortune from his accountant, at gunpoint. Going Home follows strongly with an American widow and her daughter in England to buy shoes. Diana and Sydney takes a somber turn, when Diana, a successful actress, meets Sydney, her ex-husband, for the first time in years. “If you’re ready for an emotional rollercoaster of laughter, sadness and more laughter, go see London Suite,” said David Chalakee, the actor portraying Sydney.

The night closes with Man on the Floor, a slapstick farce about an American husband and wife who can’t find their Wimbledon tickets anywhere in their suite.

Tickets will only be sold at the door. The student and alumni price is $5. General admission is $7. There is a group rate of $4 per ticket for groups over five. All group members must be present at the time of purchase.

“Atlantic Cape’s Performing Arts Club looks forward to putting on a great show,” said Ryan Martin, the actor portraying Brian.
