January 17, 2014
Careme’s, the student-run, gourmet restaurant at Atlantic Cape Community College’s Academy of Culinary Arts, will reopen Wednesday, Jan. 22, and is accepting reservations.
The $8.95 lunch special (plus tax and gratuity) features an antipasta table with assorted salads and pastas, a frittata station, carved item and choice of one main entrée, including an Italian Burger, Roast Pork Sandwich, Panini del Giorno, Timpano and Seafood del Giorno. Dessert will include Tiramisu, Cannoli or Affogato, a lemoncello ice cream with Amaretti cookies and espresso.
A $14.99 dinner buffet (plus tax and gratuity) will be offered weeknights until Feb. 10. The buffet features appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and desserts. Fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables harvested from Atlantic Cape’s Organic Greenhouse and Herb Garden offer patrons a farm-to-table experience. ACA’s student-chefs also make all dessert pastries, breads and rolls.
Careme’s, located at Atlantic Cape’s Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike, offers a fine dining experience that’s unique in South Jersey. The restaurant is open Monday-Friday, August-December and January-May, when classes are in session. Guests are seated for lunch at 11:30 a.m. and for dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted. For reservations, call (609) 343-4940.
The restaurant is named after the first “celebrity chef” in culinary history, Marie-Antoine Careme. Careme’s command of culinary art was so famous in the early 19th century that he became known as “the chef of kings and the king of chefs.”
The ACA has been training future chefs and food service professionals for more than 30 years. For more information about the Academy, visit www.atlantic.edu/aca.
