Students Receive $173,960 in Scholarships

Atlantic Cape Community College awarded 174 scholarships totaling $173,960 at its 46th Annual Scholarship and Awards Ceremony May 20. The scholarships and their recipients include:

A&R Mack Foundation Scholarship—awarded to an Atlantic County resident majoring in business who is currently employed at A&R Enterprises with a GPA of 2.75 or higher. Presented to Sukhwinder Singh of Mays Landing.

AAUW Marion MacEwan Second Chance Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County female who has completed at least 15 credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Presented to Barbara Burke of Cape May Court House and Aimee Wynne of Seaville.

ACCCEA Union Scholarship—awarded to Atlantic or Cape May County students who are members of or have an immediate family member in NJEA with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Kaitlin Kirkpatrick of Seaville and Lisa Robinson of Egg Harbor Township.

ACHLA Howard Persina Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a hospitality management student who desires to work in the Atlantic City area upon graduation. Presented to Manuel Vazquez-Peralta of Williamstown.

Alyce Van Sant Eshbach Scholarship—awarded to a returning female student who resides in Atlantic or Cape May County and is majoring in allied health and in good academic standing. Presented to Karimah White of Mays Landing.

American Association of University Women Atlantic County Branch Scholarship—awarded to a graduating female student who plans to attend Richard Stockton College in a baccalaureate program. Must be an Atlantic or Cape May County resident with high scholastic ability and good moral character. Presented to Santina Conner of Mays Landing and Rizwana Rashid of Atlantic City.

Andy J. Scholarship—awarded to a full-time student majoring in culinary arts or business. Presented to Brendan Branca of Egg Harbor Township.

Anonymous Scholarship—awarded to a culinary student with a minimum of 12 credits non-developmental, in good academic standing. Student must have a GPA of 2.5 or better. Presented to Lindsay Bender of Galloway.

Anthony A. Previti Family Charitable Foundation Inc. Scholarship—awarded to a student majoring in education, medicine, law or engineering. Presented to Naveeda Naseem of Atlantic City.

Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala Endowment Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts major with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Presented to Kyle Cicale of Williamstown; Mariel Dominici of Pleasantville; Christopher  Crawford of Millville; Jamie Eberhardt of Stratford; Emma Wuillermin and Carole Strasburg, both of Hammonton, and Christopher Yerg of Deptford.                  

Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala Scholarship—awarded to second-year culinary arts majors who are outstanding in attendance and ethics with three letters of recommendation from chef educators and in good academic standing. Presented to Christopher Gora of Sicklerville; Gary Tunnicliffe of Westville; Heather Stafford of Brigantine; Lucas Bernaldo and Briana Manning, both of Mays Landing; Dante Howell of Newfield; Catharine Tarquinio of Richland; Vanessa Burk of Ocean City; Dylan Bonilla of Egg Harbor City and Anthony Dorando of Brick.

Atlantic Cape Faculty and Staff Scholarship Fund—awarded to a second‑year student who has demonstrated excellence. Presented to Shauntae Smith of Mays Landing.

Atlantic Cape Scramble ‘Fore’ Scholarships Endowment Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County student in good academic standing. Presented to Helmer Acevedo-Reyes of Wildwood; Timothy Gardner and Allison Miller, both of Cape May Court House.

Atlantic City and County Board of Realtors Scholarship—awarded to a graduating student who is continuing his or her education at a four-year institution. Presented to Barry Canty of Galloway.

Atlantic City Hotel and Lodging Association-Jonathan Benanav Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a hospitality major who is involved in student activities and displays leadership qualities. Presented to Joanna Weger of Egg Harbor Township.

Atlantic City Hotel and Lodging Association-Mark Etess Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a hospitality major who is involved in student activities and displays leadership qualities. Presented to Madelyn Torres of Brigantine.

Atlantic City Restaurant Association Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts major in good academic standing with three letters of recommendation from chef educators. Presented to Lucas Bernaldo of Mays Landing.

Baucus & Co. Scholarship—awarded to students majoring in business administration. Presented to Keaundra Bludsaw and Myrnoye Dareus, both of Pleasantville; Helen Horner of Wildwood Crest; Barby Doe Jr. and Darcee Heffner, both of Atlantic City; Xi Li of Margate and T’Keyah Marshall of Egg Harbor Township.

Boardwalk Regents Club Scholarship—awarded to a disabled student who is a graduate of Atlantic County Special Services or is interested in a career working with the disabled. Presented to Michael Heilman of Newtonville.

Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa Restaurant Gala Scholarship—awarded to a second-year culinary arts major with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Must be recognized as outstanding in attendance and ethics and have two letters of recommendation from chef educators. Presented to Brian Brown of Williamstown.

Caesars Foundation Championship Golf Tournament Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County resident with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Presented to Theresa Hart of Ocean City.

Caesars Foundation Restaurant Gala Scholarship—awarded to a second-year culinary arts major with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Students must be recognized as outstanding in attendance and ethics as evidenced by two letters of recommendation from chef educators. Presented to Petrina Ochipinti of Mays Landing and Michael Pillar of Toms River.

Cape May County Championship Golf Tournament Scholarship—awarded to Atlantic and Cape May County   residents with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Manuel Vasquez-Peralta of Williamstown; Brenda Aguilar Guzman, Joyce Nartey and Albert Williams, all of Hammonton; Michael Cuculino of Somers Point; Chun Lau of Atlantic City; Colleen Bennert of Cape May Court House; Andrea Booth and Reyna Dabney, both of Pleasantville; Kathleen Fitzpatrick and Daphne Tenor, both of Egg Harbor Township; Rachel Giannini and Zachary Van Mourik, both of Cape May; Oleg Pismennyy and Larry Wakefield, both of Villas; Steven Wilson of Seaville; Peter Hall, Julie Jensen and Emily Weary, all of Egg Harbor City; and Louiza Belali of Rio Grande.

Cape May Millennium Gala Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts major in good academic standing. Presented to Michael Tarquinio of Buena.

Cape May National Golf Club Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County student in good academic standing. Presented to Laura Jett of Cape May Court House.

Careme’s Scholarship—awarded to second-year culinary arts majors in good academic standing. Presented to Arielle Toronto of Marlton and Devyn Seigfried of Cherry Hill.

Catherine F. McGowan Memorial Scholarship—awarded to two Atlantic County students in good academic standing. Presented to Patrick Jacaszek of Northfield and Jerrell Mills of Pleasantville.

Chelsea Neighborhood Association Scholarship—awarded to a hospitality management major. Presented to Darryl McCoy Jr. of Atlantic City.

Clare Barone & Vincent Sabatini Endowment Scholarship—awarded to a mother who is a resident of Atlantic or Cape May County who is seeking to further her career. Presented to Diana Adams of Atlantic City.

Create Opportunity Campaign Scholarship—awarded to a student in good academic standing. Presented to Felix Contreras of Galloway; April McGeary of Egg Harbor City and Roger Thompson of Wildwood.

Culinary Arts Scholarship—awarded to a culinary student with a 2.5 GPA. Presented to Dante Howell of Newfield.

DAR Scholarship/Gen. Lafayette Chapter—awarded to a graduating history or liberal arts major residing in Atlantic County and transferring to a four-year school. Presented to Tamica Johnson of Absecon and Colleen Walsh of Northfield.

Domenico Caruso Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a veteran student who received an eligible discharge and is a resident of Atlantic or Cape May County with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Presented to Sarah Cossabone of Hammonton.

Donald P. Crescenzo, D.D.S. Scholarship—awarded to a full-time Atlantic or Cape May County resident majoring in science. Presented to Tara L. Baliban of Ocean City.

Edwin Zaberer Scholarship for Academic Excellence—awarded to a second-year culinary arts major in good academic standing. Presented to Mariel Dominici of Pleasantville and Anthony Iaria Jr. of Ocean Gate.

Filomena P. Caruso Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts student with a GPA of 2.5 or better who is outstanding in attendance and ethics as evidenced by two letters of recommendation from chef educators. Presented to Jodi Fitting of Vineland.

Frances Zaberer Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts student entering his/her second year with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Presented to Brandon Puckett of Vineland; Tusheeway Henderson of Newtonville and Wendy Hassel of Egg Harbor City.

Future Teacher Community Service Scholarship—awarded to a full- or part-time Atlantic or Cape May County student majoring in education with a 3.25 GPA or higher. Presented to Mary Addo of Egg Harbor Township.

Galloway Township American Legion Post 430—awarded to a veteran student who has obtained an eligible discharge. Presented to Rickard Johnson of Cape May Court House; Charles Garcia of Egg Harbor Township; Chun Lau of Atlantic City and John Badger and Briana Manning, both of Mays Landing.

General Kiwanis Club Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County resident with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who demonstrates community service. Presented to Elaina Davidson of Stone Harbor.

Grace M. Caruso Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a male or female student majoring in culinary or nursing who is a resident of Cape May County with a 3.0 GPA. Presented to Colleen Bennert of Cape May Court House and Vanessa Burk of Ocean City.

Helen Dilks Eshbach Scholarship—awarded to a full- or part-time student majoring in business in good academic standing who is a resident of Atlantic or Cape May County. Presented to Harry Callahan III of Landisville.

International Assoc. of Administrative Professionals Scholarship—awarded to a full- or part-time student majoring in Office Systems Technology with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Yu Juan Tan of Mays Landing.

James H. Boyd Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full-time Cape May or Atlantic County student pursuing a career in government or politics. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Colin McFadden of Galloway.

Jamie Crescenzo Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full-time Atlantic or Cape May County resident majoring in criminal justice. Presented to Juan Pemberti of Egg Harbor Township.

Jane Scharfetter Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full- or part-time student from Atlantic or Cape May County majoring in education. Presented to Kaitlin Kirkpatrick of Seaville.

Janice Leach Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a nursing student with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Student must be involved in the Student Nurses Club at Atlantic Cape. Presented to Roys Andrews and Dana Cosentino, both of Somers Point, and Coleen Serzanin of Hammonton.

Joan Fineran Nursing Scholarship—awarded to two nursing students from either Atlantic or Cape May County. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Dominique Avery of Hammonton and Renee LeBlanc of Ocean View.

John Carbone Memorial Scholarship—awarded to full-time culinary arts students who have a 3.5 GPA or higher. May be from Atlantic or Cape May County. Must be an active ACF member or junior member. Presented Michelle Lewis of Linwood.

Joseph A. Romano Sr. Scholarship—awarded to an Atlantic or Cape May County resident majoring in business with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Presented to Jason Stephens of Petersburg.

Joseph and Arleen Dougherty Scholarship—awarded to an Atlantic County student majoring in business with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Recipient must be a current or former Dougherty Family Restaurant employee or relative of an employee and possess strong work ethics and entrepreneurial spirit. Presented to Gita Patel of Galloway.

Joseph O’Connor “Pay It Forward” Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County resident with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Kimberly Hannum of West Cape May.

Joseph R. Dougherty Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts major who is in his/her second year and a resident of Atlantic County. Presented to Darryl McCoy Jr. of Atlantic City.

Joseph R. Zelnik Memorial Journalism Scholarship—awarded to a student who plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in journalism, desires to work in newspaper journalism and displays talent and academic excellence. Presented to Briar Gibbons of Egg Harbor City.

Joy Eshbach Roehnert Scholarship—awarded to a female nursing major in good academic standing, who resides in Atlantic or Cape May County. Presented to Barbara Burke of Cape May Court House.

Karen M. Brown Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a student pursuing a baccalaureate degree in mathematics. Recipient must demonstrate qualities of strong character and motivation. Presented to Albert Williams of Hammonton.

Ken Drake Scholarship—awarded to a student with a GPA of 3.4 or better pursuing a career in art education. Presented to Keaundra Bludsaw of Pleasantville.

Kevin Cooper Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a returning full- or part-time liberal arts student with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Presented to Kristin Reyes of Wildwood.

Kilgerman Family Scholarship—awarded to student based on faculty recommendation of demonstrated creativity. Presented to Paula Gala of North Cape May; Kirsta Dixon and Deeba Khan, both of Atlantic City; Crista Herman of Egg Harbor City; Claudy Sorto-Canales of Egg Harbor Township; Jamie Stanhope of Northfield and Jose Ramos of Ventnor.

Libby Demp Forrest Moore Memorial Writing Scholarship—awarded to a full- or part-time student interested in a career in journalism or writing with a GPA of at least 2.5. Presented to Marie Salomon of Egg Harbor Township.

Lorraine Cooper Memorial Scholarship—awarded to full- or part-time student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher who is an Atlantic County resident. Presented to Rahbar Mahmud of Atlantic City.

Lucille P. Lupton Foundation Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts major. Presented to Thomas Richmond of Wildwood Crest and Lamthy Vo of Egg Harbor Township.

Margaret Wright Nursing Award—awarded to a Cape May County second-year nursing student. Presented to Patricia Burch of Seaville.

Maria L. Fabel Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full-time nursing student from Atlantic or Cape May County with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Dominique Avery of Hammonton.

Marie Romano Nursing Scholarship—awarded to a graduating nursing student who is in the top 10 percent of the class. Presented to Robert Carroll of Brigantine; Brittany Scalia of Ventnor and Theresa Evans of Wildwood.

Marilyn Rhoads Miller Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County nursing student with a GPA of 3.4 or better. Presented to Erin DeLong of Villas.

Mary E. Donaldson Haynie Scholarship—awarded to a female student who is a resident of Cape May or Atlantic County who is returning to the workforce. Presented to Shauntae Smith of Mays Landing.

Metropolitan Business & Citizens Association Scholarship—awarded to a returning student with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Presented to Jamie McGowan of Linwood; Thomas Swayngim of Mays Landing; Kenneth Kin, Gita Patel and Stacey-Ann Watson, all of Galloway.

Michael F. Gardner Scholarship—awarded to a business administration major and a resident of Cape May County. Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA or higher. Presented to Tatsiana Novik of Villas.

Nate Allen Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full-time culinary arts major who is a resident of Atlantic or Cape May County. Presented to Darryl McCoy Jr. of Atlantic City; Delores Kraus of Mays Landing and Jacob Mann of Marmora.

Neide Robinson Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full-time culinary student in good academic standing. Presented to Michelle Lewis of Linwood.

Pessagno Family Scholarship—awarded to a full- or part-time resident of Cape May County with a GPA of 3.4 or higher. Presented to Tatsiana Novik of Villas.

PR Council of Greater Atlantic City “Shore” Scholarship—awarded to a communication major who plans to transfer to a baccalaureate communication or public relations program. Must be a resident of Atlantic County with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Cheryl Werner of Mays Landing.

Private Louis Caruso II Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a veteran who received an eligible discharge and is a resident of Atlantic or Cape May County with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Presented to John Badger of Mays Landing.

Rachel Sandson Scholarship—awarded to a full- or part-time student who is a resident of Atlantic or Cape May County. Presented to Jennifer Orlando of Hammonton.

Ralph Russell Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full-time student majoring in math or science who is a resident of Atlantic or Cape May County with a 3.5 GPA. Presented to Abdul Abubakar of Egg Harbor Township.

Rio Auto Body Scholarship—awarded to a second-year full-time student who is a resident of Cape May County with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Presented to Roger Thompson of Wildwood.

Robert Mullock Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County student with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Presented to Kimberly Hannum of West Cape May.

Samuel A. Donio Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a second-year full-time student majoring in history or education who has demonstrated service in the community and school with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Colby Roberts of Galloway.

Samuel and Gladys Levinson Scholarship—awarded to an Atlantic or Cape May County high school graduate showing scholastic ability who will return to Atlantic Cape in the fall. Presented to Kemberly Rodriguez of Ventnor.

Soroptimist International of Atlantic City Scholarship—awarded to a second-year full-time female student in the health care field with good academic background and involved in community service. Presented to Renee LeBlanc of Ocean View.

SouthShore Foundation Scholarship—awarded to allied health or nursing students who are enrolled in the clinical portion of the program with two faculty recommendations. Presented to Sarah Cossabone of Hammonton; Felicia Johnston of Egg Harbor Township; Denise Petro of Greenfield and Lan Nguyen of Atlantic City.

Sturdy Savings Bank Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County resident who is majoring in business or finance. Presented to Helen Horner of Willdwood Crest and Tatsiana Novik of Villas.

Terence Hutchison Memorial Award—awarded to a returning student who demonstrates interest in computer science or technology. Presented to Mary Addo of Egg Harbor Township.

Terence Hutchison Memorial Endowment Scholarship—awarded to a returning student who demonstrates interest in computer science or technology. Presented to Amelia Steelman of Sea Isle City

The Domenico Scholarship—awarded to a full-time Cape May County resident majoring in business with a GPA of 3.5 or better. Presented to Tatsiana Novik of Villas.

The WIBCA/GEMS Memorial Scholarship Fund—awarded to a minority student to facilitate his/her retention in school. Presented to Anthony George II of Cape May.

V. Lawrence Brice Endowment Scholarship—awarded to culinary arts majors with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Presented to Eric Poole of Northfield.

Walter Russell Eshbach Scholarship—awarded to an Atlantic or Cape May County resident majoring in allied health. Presented to Katarzyna Grasso of Hammonton.

William Sprinzing Endowment Fund Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts major who has completed five culinary classes in good academic standing who is outstanding in attendance and ethics and has three letters of recommendation from chef educators. Presented to Kyle Cicale of Williamstown.
