Communication Program to Host Second High School Video and Film Competition
February 28, 2013
The Atlantic Cape Community College Communication Degree Program is hosting its Second Annual High School Video and Film Competition. High schools in Atlantic and Cape May counties are eligible to participate.
Videos, films and newscasts produced in school for academic credit during the 2012-2013 school year will be considered. Schools may submit one entry up to 10 minutes long. A panel of judges made up of Atlantic Cape faculty, staff and students and industry professionals will review the entries based on criteria including titles, editing, sound, videography/cinematography, originality and entertainment value. Trophies will be awarded to the top three entries. Judges include a vice president from Warner Bros., an executive from Gallagher Entertainment Insurance Services (the company that insured 65 percent of this year’s Oscar nominees) and a former supervising producer from E! Entertainment Television.
All submissions must be posted on YouTube and links submitted electronically to be considered. Schools can earn three bonus points if teachers join the Atlantic Cape Communication Facebook page. Deadline for submissions is 5 p.m., Monday, March 11.
Trophies will be awarded to first, second and third place finishers at the college’s sixth annual Communication and Art Awards program Friday, May 3, at the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike. A school representative must be present to win.
Last year’s winner was Charter Tech High School for the Performing Arts. Second place went to Middle Township High School and Third Place was earned by Mainland Regional High School.
