Academy of Culinary Arts Heats Up with Spring Cooking Competitions

Atlantic Cape Community College’s Academy of Culinary Arts students will put their culinary skills to the test by participating in a variety of cooking competitions throughout the spring semester.
- Competition 1: ACA student Joe Mikitish of Margate will compete against aspiring chefs from across the region in the Northeast regionals of the S.Pellegrino Almost Famous Chef competition Jan. 23, in New York City.
- Competition 2: Five teams of culinary students will prepare three-course meals to compete in the 1st Annual Pre Chef Grand Prix, Feb. 20, at the Academy of Culinary Arts. Winning teams will have an opportunity to present their dishes at the Atlantic City Restaurant Week kick-off preview event at the Atlantic City Country Club Feb. 26.
- Competition 3: Culinary students Peter Almonte of Galloway, Brian Murray of Mullica Hill, Alex Waters of Egg Harbor Township, Andy Montchyk of Bellmawr and Alex Valletta of Brigantine, will team up to compete in the 2013 American Culinary Federation Northeast Regional Student Competition, March 17-20, at the Turning Stone Casino and Resort in Verona, NY.
