150 Atlantic Cape Students Receive $170,685 in Scholarships

One hundred and fifty students were awarded 170 scholarships totaling $170,685 at Atlantic Cape Community College’s 45th Annual Scholarship and Awards Ceremony May 14. The scholarships and their recipients include:

AAUW Marion MacEwan Second Chance Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County female who has completed at least 15 credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Presented to Barbara Burke of Cape May Court House; Jill Geller of Ocean City and Heather Seningen of Eldora.

ACHLA Howard Persina Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a hospitality management student who desires to work in the Atlantic City area upon graduation. Presented to Nicholas LaRotonda of Absecon.

Alyce Van Sant Eshbach Scholarship—awarded to a returning female student who resides in Atlantic or Cape May County and is an allied health major in good academic standing. Presented to Jennifer Brown of Mays Landing.

American Association of University Women AC Branch Scholarship—awarded to a graduating female student who plans to attend Richard Stockton College in a baccalaureate program. Must be an Atlantic or Cape May County resident with high scholastic ability and good moral character. Presented to Victoria Emmons of Atlantic City.

Andy J. Scholarship—awarded to a full-time student majoring in culinary arts or business. Presented to Oscar Marrou Tonkovic of Egg Harbor Township.

Anthony A. Ercolani Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts major entering his/her second year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Catharine Tarquinio of Richland.

Anthony A. Previti Family Charitable Foundation Inc. Scholarship—awarded to one male and one female majoring in education, medicine, law or engineering. Presented to Abdul Abubakar of Egg Harbor City and Naveeda Naseem of Atlantic City.

Art Club Achievement Award—awarded to a full- or part-time studio arts student. Presented to Emily Culbertson of Absecon and Patricia Taylor of Mays Landing.

Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala Endowment Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts major with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Presented to Jessica Beck of Northfield; Rubi Ortiz of Egg Harbor Township; Angelina Pino of Franklinville; and Shauntae Smith of Mays Landing.

Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala Scholarship—awarded to second-year culinary arts majors who are outstanding in attendance and ethics with three letters of recommendation from chef educators and in good academic standing. Atlantic Cape Faculty and Staff Scholarship Fund—awarded to a second‑year student who has demonstrated excellence. Presented to Jennifer Dougherty of Cape May Court House.

Atlantic Cape Scramble ‘Fore’ Scholarships Endowment Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County student in good academic standing. Presented to Katielyn Damiana of Cape May and Danielle Jones of Palermo.

Atlantic City and County Board of Realtors Scholarship—awarded to a graduating student who is continuing his or her education at a four-year institution. Presented to Sean Taliaferro of Mays Landing.

Atlantic City Hotel & Lodging Association Culinary Scholarship—awarded to culinary arts majors in good academic standing who are involved in student activities and display leadership qualities. Presented to Jenna Kisby of Galloway.

Atlantic City Hotel and Lodging Association-Jonathan Benanav Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a hospitality major who is involved in student activities and displays leadership qualities. Presented to Brooke Gibson of Toms River.

Atlantic City Hotel and Lodging Association-Mark Etess Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a hospitality major who is involved in student activities and displays leadership qualities. Presented to Jennifer Dougherty of Cape May Court House.

Atlantic City Hotel and Lodging Association-Stephen Hyde Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a hospitality major who is involved in student activities and displays leadership qualities. Presented to Diane Perrin of Ocean View.

Barbara Rimm Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a graduating nursing student who exemplifies a genuine love and knowledge for the nursing profession and shows courage, fortitude and love for their fellow man. Presented to Gina Gibboni of Somers Point.

Baucus & Co. Scholarship—awarded to students majoring in business administration. Presented to Keaundra Bludsaw of Pleasantville; Dawn Carman of Galloway; Amanda Madu of Pomona; Raine Qian-Jeffries of Egg Harbor City; and Lindsey Zuber of Hammonton.

Baumgardner Restaurant Gala Scholarship—awarded to a culinary student who has completed at least five culinary courses. Must be recognized as outstanding in attendance and ethics and have two letters of recommendation from chef educators. Presented to Kristopher Frazier of Marlton.

Boardwalk Regents Club Scholarship—awarded to a disabled student who is a graduate of Atlantic County Special Services or is interested in a career working with the disabled. Presented to Anthony Lanzilotti of Brigantine.

Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa Restaurant Gala Scholarship—awarded to a second-year culinary arts major with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Must be recognized as outstanding in attendance and ethics and have two letters of recommendation from chef educators. Presented to Michael Penn of Upper Deerfield.

Brian Levinson Memorial Award—awarded to a Cape May County resident majoring in paralegal or criminal justice with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Awarded to Ehaterina Panycheua of Wildwood and Thomas Richmond of Wildwood Crest.

Cape May County Chamber of Commerce “School Counts” Scholarship—awarded to a full-time Cape May County student majoring in business or communication. Presented to Rosislava Velikova of Cape May.

Cape May County Championship Golf Tournament Scholarship—awarded to Cape May County residents with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Alayna Lawrence, Cristyann Nguyen, Georgeanne Taylor, Jonathon Harrison, Karolyn Carr; and Zuleika Delgado, all of Cape May Court House; Brandon Devitt of Del Haven; Crystal Montanez and Maryann Balla, both of Villas; Harris Schmerling of Stone Harbor; Jennifer Chifulio, John Barsby, Maggie Franco, Makenzie Franco, Melinda Pelham, Paula Gala, Rachel Giannini, and Yulia Schaffer, all of Cape May; Kirby Wood of Woodbine; Louiza Belali of Rio Grande; Nicole Holt of Belleplain; Suzanne Conine of Wildwood Crest; and Theresa Hart of Ocean City.

Careme’s Scholarship—awarded to second-year culinary arts majors in good academic standing. Presented to Alex Waters of Egg Harbor Township and Jenna Kisby of Galloway.

Carole Ercolani Zaberer Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts major entering his/her second year in good academic standing. Presented to Shauntae Smith of Mays Landing.

Charles Zaberer Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts major entering his/her second year in good academic standing. Presented to Kathleen Cox of Mays Landing.

Chelsea Neighborhood Association Scholarship—awarded to a hospitality management major. Presented to Abraham Figueroa of Vineland.

Clare Barone & Vincent Sabatini Endowment Scholarship—awarded to a mother who is a resident of Atlantic or Cape May County who is seeking to further her career. Presented to Mary Ann Pilkington of Mays Landing.

Create Opportunity Campaign Pool Scholarship—awarded to a student in good academic standing. Presented to Kenneth Kin of Galloway and Robert Speirs of Brigantine.

DAR Scholarship/Gen. Lafayette Chapter—awarded to a graduating history or liberal arts major residing in Atlantic County and transferring to a four-year school. Presented to Nicole Schoenstein of Mays Landing.

Domenico Caruso Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a veteran student who received an eligible discharge. Must be a resident of Atlantic or Cape May County with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or better. Presented to Harry Callahan of Landisville.

Donald P. Crescenzo, D.D.S. Scholarship—awarded to a full-time Atlantic or Cape May County resident majoring in science. Presented to Cindy Pajaro of Estell Manor.

Dr. Oliver Henderson Memorial Scholarship—awarded to an Atlantic or Cape May County resident with at least 28 credits earned at Atlantic Cape or the N.J. Marine Science Consortium. Must be an environmental marine or public health major with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Presented to Luis Almeyda of Mays Landing.

Edwin Zaberer Scholarship for Academic Excellence—awarded to a second-year culinary arts major in good academic standing. Presented to Patricia Vargas of Somers Point.

Elizabeth Ellis Scholarship—awarded to a student with at least 12 non-developmental classes in good academic standing. Presented to Michael Pillar of Toms River.

Executive Chef Rick Lafferty Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a student who is interested in pursuing a career in culinary and hospitality field. Presented to Carmen Hernandez of Lakehurst and Sharon Beals of Egg Harbor City.

Galloway Township American Legion Post 430—awarded to a veteran student who has obtained an eligible discharge. Presented to Charles Garcia of Egg Harbor Township; Carmen Hernandez of Lakehurst; Colin Kelly of Absecon; Elizabeth Penn of Upper Deerfield; and Nathaniel Vansickle of Mays Landing.

Grace M. Caruso Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a male or female student majoring in culinary or nursing and a resident of Cape May County with a 3.0 GPA. Presented to Irina Eremina of Cape May and Julia Harrison of Cape May Court House.

Harrah’s Entertainment Restaurant Gala Scholarship—awarded to returning culinary arts majors with a 2.5 GPA or higher. Must be recognized as outstanding in attendance and ethics as evidenced by two letters of recommendation from chef educators. Presented to Amanda Palomino of Egg Harbor Township and Petrina Ochipinti of Mullica Hill.

Helen Dilks Eshbach Scholarship—awarded to a full- or part-time student majoring in business in good academic standing who is a resident of Atlantic or Cape May County. Presented to Vincent Christiani of Hammonton.

Howard Persina Memorial Endowment Scholarship—awarded to a hospitality major with a GPA of 3.0 or better who desires to work in the Atlantic City area upon graduation. Presented to Nicholas LaRotonda of Absecon.

International Assoc. of Administrative Professionals Scholarship—awarded to a full- or part-time student majoring in Office Systems Technology with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Robyn McCullough of Absecon.

James H. Boyd Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full-time Cape May or Atlantic County student pursuing a career in government or politics. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Kulwinder Singh of Mays Landing.

Jamie Crescenzo Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full-time Atlantic or Cape May County resident majoring in criminal justice. Presented to Juan Wiggins of Atlantic City.

Jane Scharfetter Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full- or part-time student from Atlantic or Cape May County majoring in education. Presented to Tai Washington of Galloway.

Joan Fineran Nursing Scholarship—awarded to two nursing students from either Atlantic or Cape May County. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Jennifer Orlando of Hammonton and Theresa Evans of Wildwood.

John E. Stellman Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a returning full- or part-time student who has demonstrated support to fellow students in their learning process. Presented to Amy Ingram of Atlantic City.

Joseph A. Romano Sr. Scholarship—awarded to an Atlantic or Cape May County resident majoring in business with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Presented to Awilda Valdez-Santana of Atlantic City.

Joseph O’Connor “Pay It Forward” Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County resident with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Zuleika Delgado of Cape May Court House.

Joy Eshbach Roehnert Scholarship—awarded to a female nursing major in good academic standing, who resides in Atlantic or Cape May County. Presented to Karimah White of Mays Landing.

Karen M. Brown Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a student pursuing a baccalaureate degree in mathematics. Recipient must demonstrate qualities of strong character and motivation. Presented to Elizabeth Newman of Galloway.

Kevin Cooper Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a returning full- or part-time liberal arts student with a 3.0 GPA or higher. Presented to Robyn McCullough of Absecon.

Kilgerman Family Scholarship—awarded to student based on faculty recommendation of demonstrated creativity. Presented to Carley Epstein and Paulina Pyzdrowski, both of Egg Harbor Township; Gloria Martinez-Gumbs and Luis Lopez-Caluillo, both of Pleasantville; Jesse Ballard of Northfield; Juan Gutierrez of Ventnor; and Stephanie Davies-Khan of Atlantic City.

Libby Demp Forrest Moore Memorial Writing Scholarship—awarded to a full- or part-time student interested in a career in journalism or writing with a GPA of at least 2.5. Presented to Madison Russ of Somers Point.

Lorraine Cooper Memorial—awarded to full- or part-time student with a GPA of 2.5 or higher who is an Atlantic County resident. Presented to Puza Karmakar of Atlantic City.

Lucille P. Lupton Foundation Scholarship—awarded to a culinary arts major. Presented to Signyan Yuen of Galloway.

Margaret Wright Nursing Award—awarded to a Cape May County second-year nursing student. Presented to Erin DeLong of Villas.

Marie Romano Nursing Scholarship—awarded to a graduating nursing student who is in the top 10 percent of the class. Presented to Paula Hogans of Mays Landing.

Marsha S. Popick Foundation Scholarship—awarded to a part-time communication major in good academic standing. Presented to Robert Speirs of Brigantine.

Metropolitan Business & Citizens Association Scholarship—awarded to a returning student with a GPA of 3.0 or better. Presented to Carmen Criales of Mays Landing; Felicia Johnston of Egg Harbor Township; Hsing-Yi Chou of Galloway; Jacole Sade Hearns and Reyna Dabney, both of Pleasantville.

Michael F. Gardner Scholarship—awarded to a business administration major and a resident of Cape May County. Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA or higher. Presented to Rosislava Velikova of Cape May.

Mid Jersey Cape Rotary Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County resident who is returning to college or beginning his/her secondary education after being in the workforce. Presented to Suzanne Conine of Wildwood Crest.

Nate Allen Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full-time culinary arts major who is a resident of Cape May County or graduate of a Cape May County high school. Presented to Julia Harrison of Cape May Court House.

Neide Robinson Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full-time culinary student in good academic standing. Presented to John Desena Jr. of Jackson.

PR Council of Greater Atlantic City “Shore” Scholarship—awarded to a communication major who plans to transfer to a baccalaureate communication or public relations program. Must be a resident of Atlantic County with a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Presented to Glendin Ford of Hammonton.

Private Louis Caruso II Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a veteran who received an eligible discharge. A resident of Atlantic or Cape May County with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Presented to Charles Garcia of Egg Harbor Township.

Ralph Russell Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full-time student majoring in math or science who is a resident of Cape May County with a 3.5 GPA. Presented to Luis Almeyda of Mays Landing.

Samuel A. Donio Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a second-year history or education major who has demonstrated service to community and school. Must be a full-time student with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Edward Warren Jr. of Dorothy.

Samuel and Gladys Levinson Scholarship—awarded to an Atlantic or Cape May County high school graduate showing scholastic ability who will return to Atlantic Cape in the fall. Presented to Cortney Chiarle of Cape May Court House.

Sandy Steinberger Award—awarded to a returning student who demonstrates leadership ability. Presented to Kulwinder Singh of Mays Landing.

Science/Math Division Award—awarded to a full- or part-time second-year math or science major with at least 24 credits and a GPA of 3.25 in their major and an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. Presented to Mohamed Elseadey of Egg Harbor Township.

SouthShore Foundation Health Education Scholarship—awarded to a student studying for a health-related career. Presented to Ashley DuBruille of Beesley’s Point.

SouthShore Foundation Scholarship—awarded to allied health or nursing students who are enrolled in the clinical portion of the program with two faculty recommendations. Presented to Kelly Sanders and Santina Conner, both of Mays Landing; Michelle Booth of Egg Harbor Township; Robert Carroll of Brigantine and; Sharon Burst of Estell Manor.

Sturdy Savings Bank Scholarship—awarded to a Cape May County resident who is majoring in business or finance. Presented to Kirby Wood of Woodbine; Lizbeth Johnson of Seaville; Roger Thompson of Wildwood; and Valerie Craver of Ocean City.

Terence Hutchison Memorial Award—awarded to a returning student who demonstrates interest in computer science technology. Presented to Cheryl Jones of Atlantic City and Jennifer Robles of Absecon.

The Teresa L. Turton Nursing Scholarship Foundation—awarded to a second-year nursing student with a minimum 3.5 GPA who is interested in working in trauma ICU. Presented to Brittany Scalia of Ventnor.

The WIBCA/GEMS Memorial Scholarship Fund—awarded to a minority student to facilitate his/her retention in school. Presented to Willard Boyd of Cape May Court House.

Thomas C. Conover Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a science major transferring to a baccalaureate program in science in good academic standing. Presented to Dawn Bloom of Cape May.

V. Lawrence Brice Endowment Scholarship—awarded to culinary arts majors with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Presented to Carmen Hernandez of Lakehurst.

Visiting Nurses Association Scholarship—awarded to a nursing student who has entered the clinical portion of the program in good academic standing. Presented to Erica Butler of Pleasantville.

Walter Russell Eshbach Scholarship—awarded to an Atlantic or Cape May County resident majoring in allied health. Presented to Jeneen Luma of Egg Harbor Township.

William R. Conn Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a full‑time accounting major entering the second-year of study in good academic standing. Presented to Lauri Mathis of Galloway.
