CMCC Plans June 6 Information Session about NJ STARS

May 8, 2012

Atlantic Cape Community College will host an information session for high school students eligible for free Atlantic Cape tuition under the NJ STARS and NJ STARS II scholarship programs. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, in Room 212, at the Cape May County Campus, 341 Court House-South Dennis Road, in Cape May Court House.

Established by the state in 2004, NJ STARS—Student Tuition Assistance Reward Scholarship—provides high school students graduating in the top 15 percent of their class with free tuition at their local community college. Students from Atlantic and Cape May counties who meet all criteria will have up to two years from the date of high school graduation to enroll and begin using the scholarship at Atlantic Cape.

Students must first apply for all need-based federal and merit-based state financial aid grants. After that, NJ STARS will cover the remaining balance of tuition.

Atlantic Cape’s transfer agreements with four-year colleges and universities ensure a seamless transition to a four-year bachelor’s degree program. Students can save more than $50,000 in tuition and fees at a four-year college or university by spending their first two years at Atlantic Cape.
