Atlantic Cape Offers Course for Landscaping Industry Professionals

Atlantic Cape Community College will offer a course this spring for those interested in pursuing a career as a certified greenskeeper, landscape worker, groundskeeper or grounds maintenance worker.

In Landscaping Industry Certified Technician – Exterior, participants will learn maintenance and installation of landscapes, including: the different types of plants and flowers, common landscaping tools and machines, techniques in green irrigation and landscape design. The class will meet Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., beginning April 9.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of grounds maintenance workers is expected to increase by 18 percent by 2018. Grounds maintenance workers will be among the occupations with largest numbers of new jobs—more than 269,000. Additionally, certified landscaping technicians can earn higher incomes than noncertified professionals.
