ACCC Educational Opportunity Fund Slates Fashion Show for May 13

April 3, 2006

ATLANTIC CITY - "I'm Somebody on Sunday," a spring fashion show and tea celebrating the "dress to impress" traditions of Sunday church-going working
African-American mothers, will take place here on Saturday, May 13.

The fashion show will trace the socio-economic relationship between fashion and religious experience in the African-American community through social commentary provided by Linda Moore of Chesilhurst.

The fund raiser is sponsored by the advisory board of the Educational Opportunity Fund of Atlantic Cape Community College, which offers ACCC students Melvin Newton Scholarships. EOF is a comprehensive, state-funded program that provides financial and academic support to qualified college students.

The event will take place in the Asbury UME Church Fellowship Hall, 1213 Pacific Ave. Tickets are $20. A light luncheon of finger sandwiches, tea and cookies will be served.

Hats and leisure wear will be in abundance in the show of Sunday morning fashions. The event starts at 1 p.m., but doors open at noon for those who wish to shop for items offered by N'Style Boutique of Berlin.
