Golfers Can Compete in $10,000 Hole-In-One Shootout at Oct. 6 Tournament

September 2, 2011

The 2011 Atlantic Cape Community College Scramble ‘Fore’ Scholarships golf tournament will feature a $10,000 hole-in-one shootout, Thursday, Oct. 6, at the Cape May National Golf Club in Cape May.

The tournament will follow a scramble format with a shotgun-start at 11 a.m. After the scramble portion is complete, five qualifying golfers will advance to the shootout for their chance to win a $10,000 cash prize.

Partnering with the Atlantic Cape Foundation, CMNGC will host the annual tournament to support student scholarships and Foundation operations.

The historic Chalfonte Hotel in Cape May will host and cater the awards dinner, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Dessert will be prepared by students at Atlantic Cape’s Academy of Culinary Arts.

Player fees, which include gift bags, lunch and a dinner awards banquet, are $125 per person and $500 per foursome.

This year, golfers can participate in skills challenges, including a rowboat-chipping contest and a putting contest. Individuals and businesses can also participate in six sponsorship package opportunities ranging from $100 to $5,000. Last year’s event raised $27,000 for Atlantic Cape scholarships and Foundation operations.

For sponsorship or player information, call Lauren Canzanese at (609) 463-4672, e-mail lcanzanese@atlantic.edu or visit www.atlantic.edu/golf.

The Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation raises funds for college scholarships, academic programs, and enhancements to the college learning environment and experience through a variety of activities. These activities include:  the annual spring Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala, the annual fall Scramble ‘Fore’ Scholarships Golf Tournament, along with annual and multi-year gift campaigns, alumni giving programs, and planned giving vehicles.

As a result of the hard work of the 31 volunteer members of the board, the Foundation provides nearly $200,000 annually for institutional scholarships, grants and emergency help. Founded in 1978 as an independent but affiliated 501(c)3 nonprofit charity, the Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation is dedicated to serving the Atlantic Cape mission by providing financial support to the college and its students.
