Atlantic Cape Art Gallery Features Work by Dressler Smith
January 12, 2011
Atlantic Cape Community College’s Art Gallery will feature the paintings of Dressler Smith of Pennsauken. The exhibit runs Jan. 24 through Feb. 24, with a reception to meet the artist from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5. Snow date is Saturday, Feb. 12. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.
Smith’s exhibit is based on the artwork of mothers in her community, the Delair section of Pennsauken, whose art was expressed through their gardens and quilts, and often during times of financial hardship.
Smith received a bachelor’s degree from the Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, and she is an adjunct instructor at Camden County College. She serves as a charter member of the New Jersey Pastel Painters Society, and is represented by Accent Studio in Haddonfield. Smith’s work has been exhibited in the Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Artwork’s Gallery, Johnson & Johnson, Dow Jones and the New York City Port Authority, as well as the Franklin Institute Science Museum and the Atlantic City International Airport’s “ArtPort” gallery.
The art gallery is located in C building (C-125), on the Mays Landing Campus, 5100 Black Horse Pike.
